4th National Conference on Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cells held at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology
Date:2009-12-24
2th National Competition of Fuel Cell Vehicles was held concurrently, and the competition specified use of hydrogen storage canisters provided by APFCT

4th National Conference on Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cells was held on 18-19th December this year at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. APFCT provided a fuel cell powered micro car and scooter for the public to test drive at the event. Eight teams from Taiwan participated in the National Competition of Fuel Cell Vehicles and two teams from the US and Japan attended the event as observers. All teams participating in the competition used APFCT’s storage hydrogen canisters as the on-board fuel sources for their vehicles.
At the event, the Deputy Director of Environmental Protection Administration, Executive Yuan, Taiwan enjoyed an excellent experience of a test drive in the  APFCT micro car. Many professors and students were also impressed by the vehicle and APFCT’s achievements. As a pioneer in the field of fuel cell technology, APFCT constantly provided information and support to universities on the development of fuel cell technology with an expectation that it will increase the interests and attract more talented young people to work in the field of fuel cell technology.
A few days ago, Partnership for Advancing the Transition to Hydrogen (PATH), an international coalition of 16 national hydrogen associations, submitted a letter to The Honorable Yvo de Boer, Executive Secretary of the U.N. Framework on Climate Change in Support of the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15). The letter emphasized that hydrogen and fuel cells offer key solutions to eliminating substantial greenhouse gas emissions and pollutants in light duty vehicles. No one country could not to incorporate hydrogen technology into the plan of preventing climate change. Taiwan has a strong ability in manufacturing light duty vehicles. APFCT, as a the first manufacturer of commercialized light duty fuel cell vehicles, also calls for a quick response on the establishment of regulations related to hydrogen and fuel cells standards from Taiwan Government.
